Sangeet Sandhiya or Sanji
On the evening prior to the wedding, both the bride and the grooms family come together to perform song and dances. The ceremony is meant to familiarise the two families.
Pithi
This ceremony takes place separately at the bride and grooms family, both the bride and the groom sit on low stools with their palms upturned which is then smeared with a paste from concoction of spices.
Mameru or mosalu ceremony
In this event the groom’s maternal uncle along with the maternal aunt’s husband goes to the bride’s house to present her with gifts like sarees, jewellery, wedding bangles, and chooda.
Jaan ceremony
This ceremony is meant to ward of all the evil that might follow the couple.it is also a very touching ceremony.

Varghodo ceremony
This refers to the ceremony where the groom travels to the brides place as his relatives walk with him while dancing with music and a band.
Ponkvu ceremony
This refers to the time when the groom is welcomed by the bride’s family. The bride’s mother welcomes him and playfully tries to grab his nose which the groom playfully avoids.
Jaimala ceremony
The bride and the groom are then formally introduced for the first and they exchange garlands twice. The first time with the groom standing on a stool and the second time while he is on an equal ground with the wife.
Madhuparka
The groom is then led to the wedding place by his mother in law where his feet are washed with milk and water. After that he is offered a drink containing five sacred ingredients milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, and sugar known as panchamrut. During this time the groom’s sisters try to steal the groom’s shoes known as Juta Churai.
